House Painting Guidelines

When Approval Is Required
Per Article IV of the CC&Rs, Board approval is required before painting the exterior of any house or wall, including trim. The one exception is repainting exactly the same colors currently on the house, provided those colors comply with the approved list. Even then, the Board requests the courtesy submission of an approval form so the Association can keep a record of all house colors in use.
Submit the Request for House Painting Approval form at least 10 business days before your projected start date. The Architectural Committee chair has been delegated authority to approve requests that comply with these guidelines. Submit the completed form through the Contact Us page at www.sveha.org or hand it to any Board member.

Color Rules
  • For houses with flat roofs: if a separate trim color is desired, it may be applied only to the exposed wood portions of the house. No other portion of the house may be painted the trim color.
  • For houses with tile roofs: the trim color is optional. If chosen, it shall be applied to the fascia (wood, metal, or stucco) and any exposed beam area below the tiles. It may also be applied to the masonry parapet trim around any flat-roofed area if desired. No other portion of the house may be painted the trim color.
  • Trim does not have to be a separate color. It can be the same as the body of the house, as long as the color is approved for the body.
  • Garage doors must be painted the body color.
  • All connecting walls between lots must be painted SW 2828 Colonial Revival Tan. The house color may not be used on connecting walls unless the house is also Colonial Revival Tan.
If you have any questions about the painting rules, please contact the Architectural Committee.
